Patrick Rubinstein

A master of Op Art, Patrick Rubinstein is unveiling a dozen never-before-seen paintings at the heart of the permanent exhibition at Dalí Paris, a museum in Montmartre that brings together no fewer than 300 original works by Salvador Dalí.

With his concept of Kinetic Pop Art, the French artist combines and blends images to create new ones, a vision that could not be more surrealistic. The two artists have much in common. They both had a passion for optical effects, which led to the title of the exhibition, «Optical games», and they both liked to confuse the viewer’s perception. Dali was a fan of anamorphosis, double images and holograms, which create movement.

In Patrick Rubinstein’s work, the painting comes to life as the viewer moves around it, becoming the protagonist of the artwork. Depending on the point of view, these images reveal themselves differently, appearing or disappearing, revealing others.
